Francis Picabia has been one of my favorite painters since I noticed him in the museum one of my first weeks in art school. I spent hours looking through his images of his work and was always intrigued with the layering and contour style of his portraiture. Although this piece is far from Francis Picabia level I see this as a page out of my sketbook, an attempt at what's to come. Everything I do as an artist informs my future work and this is one of the first pieces I've felt I was able to somewhat replicate his stle of portraiture and I hope to incoporate this style into my work more in the future. I've already started using this in my sketches for and i'm excited for the simple catalyst this has become!
