What memories/moments are impactful enough to define us?
How does memory and thus the meaning of something change with time?
What can’t be changed? What’s too painful to remember?
Who shaped you and what become “irrelevant” in the end?
These paintings are an exploration of medium, memory and presence. I have rebuilt my life from the ground up up more times than I can count and so much of my past can be lost in translation, or simply lost to time. I hold these people, places and stories in my body, but where do they go when my vessel is full? How much can I hold onto? What must I let go? How will I let my past define how I move through my present? This is what I’m exploring as I “Try to make sense of life without you.”
