"I am special"
 
Sgraffito is something I've always wanted to do, and wanted to do more of! I love integrating words in my piece but rarely does it look as I want it too. I love when the words flow into the figures, almost making them appear as figures themselves. Symbolizing how we conrol the words we share and speak and our control over the language we use and how our words create our reality. So sgraffito, (adding glaze to a piece while it's leather-hard and using a carving tool to remove the added glaze, revealing the clay body) was a perfect way to integrate my fluid font and words with the figures themselves. I'm incredibly happy with how it turned out, I hope you are too!
 
PLEASE NOTE: This piece was made from pre-processed clay which means it's foodsafe! This also allows me to do more ornate trimming and for a thinner and lighter piece all together!
